I’m an all around tech geek who works in desktop computing support. I’m also interested in film and television. You can also hear me discuss film, TV, and related topics at the official podcast of Slashfilm, The /Filmcast. I also write for Slashfilm covering foreign films, anime, or whatever I find interesting. You can find my general ramblings, link finds, and other random fun at my Tumblog, or links to my collected web presence at devindra.org.
History
During my senior year I started writing a column for the Amherst Student in an attempt to help further technological understanding on campus. I received many encouraging comments from my readers, so when I stopped writing that column I decided to continue that trend for technological clarity on this blog.
I’ve always seen technology as something many are afraid of, and I’d like to do my best to help make people more comfortable with it. I’m also interested in the way society accepts and utilizes technology. The rise in the Internet’s popularity from something mainly relegated to geeks and academia, to something that’s widely used by the general population is just one example. Technology is becoming exponentially more powerful and ubiquitous every day, and I want to be able to help explain it’s wonders to those who may be skeptical.
Currently I work tech support at my alma mater, which is something I have been doing since my freshman year. I enjoy supporting users at the individual level, and I think this experience will help me greatly towards demystifying technology on a broader scale through this blog.
